Bárbara Monteiro is a freelance photographer with a special focus on documentary work, portraiture and architecture.
She has a special interest in social and existential themes and intends that her work can bring pertinent issues  for discussion in society.

She was born in Oliveira do Hospital in 1991 and graduated in journalism at Escola Superior de Comunicação Social where she studied photojournalism. After, she attended a studio photography workshop taught by the Portuguese Institute of Photography (IPF) in 2013. In 2015 she participated in the portrait photography masterclass with photographer Micmojo and was a participant at NARRATIVA 2023/2024 masterclass with the photographer Mário Cruz where she began the development of the project THIS IS HEAVEN.

Since 2014, she has been doing photographic work in the most diverse areas, collaborating with associations and social media such as Gerador, El Salto, Grupo Cofina, Associação Portuguesa das Comunicações, corporate companies, architecture and communication offices, among others. 

In parallel, she develops independent and personal projects.
